JUSTINA LUONG

I developed a passion to plan events very early on and started with fundraisers and events for family and friends. Then, had the opportunity in high school (Oakland High Wildcats) to organize homecoming, winter balls, prom and senior ball as Class President.

It was the enthusiastic reaction from the guests of such events that piloted me to move forward. I perfected an eye for detail and cultivated my social engineering skills to ensure working with different venues and their staff went flawlessly.

Receiving my Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego only spearheaded my determination to figure out my niche in this industry.

In 2012, I interned with Serenity Events and began planning and coordinating weddings. It was then that I knew what my calling was. Helping couples create the most magical moment of their lives. I moved home to SF Bay Area and launched JL Events in 2014. Today, I plan and execute weddings, birthday parties and showers.

Tell us about your company name.

The "JL" in "JL Events" is the initials of me and my siblings' names (Yes, we're all JL's :)). Before I launched this business, we had plans to work together with me being the planner, my sister being the make up artist and my brother being the videographer. But plans changed, people relocated and we all launched separate companies!

What drew you to this field/how did you get started?

I've always been the planner of my group and decided to try it professionally to see if it was for me. I was taken in as an intern for two years where I learned all about the wedding industry and loved it!

Why should someone hire you?

I go above and beyond for all of my clients and with a background in customer service, one of my strengths is problem solving. I will fix hiccups and ensure your event goes smoothly.

What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?

Teamwork! Remember to work together when planning and making decisions. Focus on what is important to you and not the society trends.

Tea! I love boba and love grabbing drinks from I-Tea or T4.
